The Photographic Society of America - Silver Award

In 2016 the PSA introduced a new Award scheme based on panels.  As I love working in panels I decided to have a go at this new scheme.  There are 3 levels, Bronze, Silver and Gold.  I pitched in at silver level which requires 15 images and a 'statement of intent'.  The panel must not have been used previously - so new work was necessary.  Having had a big success with Rhapsody (top central) in the PSA Large Print of the Year competition 2015 I decided to build on that with more portraits.  However my portraits are not straight work but often have textures and colour variations from how they were shot.  So I titled the panel 'The Art of Portraiture' to get across to viewers that this was art photography and not necessarily as we see things with our eyes.

I February 2017 I had the honour of being awarded the Silver level and could use SPSA letters after my name.  Only one other UK photographer got his SPSA at the same time, so we were in a pretty unique little club at that time. Others have since followed.
